Apple Wood Frames

This product is Basket Frames and Basket Handles made from apple wood grown at Strobe Willows farm.

The apple wood frames are bent when freshly harvested and are very strong.

Apple wood is much more gnarly than willow, with very pronounced wrinkled bark. As such, it creates a very interesting rustic feel, touch and sight in your basket.

Basket Frames are used as the base for many traditional designs of baskets, trays and ornaments and as such form the foundation for the shapes and strength of the basket being made.

Basket Frames typically require an odd number of frame pieces per item being made – 3 – 5 -7 or more depending on size and design of the basket being made.

Our basket frames can be trimmed to size or a desired curve depending on the basket or item being made. They cannot be made larger and often cannot be bent with radically twisted or ‘shrunk’ diameters once dried.  We can of course, take a special order for next year for anything we do not have in stock.

The frames are often used with willow basket handles for a smoother carrying experience.
