Around The Home (12)
The Around The Home category provides information on items woven from willow on Strobe Farm from our own willow plants. These are all 'brown' willow - dried rods with the bark left intact 'Brown' is a technical weaving term. Regardless of the actual colour of the bark, which can vary from very pale, through many colours to almost black, the rods are called brown. -
Basket Making (1)
Basket- making Products are components made from willow rods which are specifically for making baskets and other craft items used for weaving willow items. Strobe Willows supplies dried willow rods from 2 to 6 feet long in 10 varieties, all with the bark intact. Other items include dried shaped forms for use as ribs and handles in basket-making. There are no baskets currently available, only craft items. All dry willow rods are now sold out in 2025. Please contact us to discuss your 2026 requirements. -
Grow Your Own Willow (3)
Grow your own basket willow plants. Strobe Willows sells both dormant cuttings harvested from mature willow plants after leaf fall and 1 year old live root stock saplings ready for transplanting, grown and sold in 5 gallon buckets of sand. As of November 2025, Strobe Willows has 14 varieties that will be harvested in the next few weeks and made available as cuttings for delivery in April 2026. There are currently 4 varieties immediately available as live (soon to be dormant) sapling, 5 plants per bucket. The inventories for these 2 options are now loaded into the shop and purchases can be made by customer until we sell out. -
Make Your Own (4)
All dry willow rods are now sold out in 2025. Please contact us to discuss your 2026 requirements. Make Your Own Products offer prepared willow materials to Strobe Willows customers for a faster start to making woven objects such as baskets and craft items. Items currently include willow rods for weaving, and pre-shaped, trimmed frames, hoops and handles in both willow and apple wood. All our Make Your Own products are available in what is called 'brown' willow, which are willow rods that are dried with the bark intact. The 16 varieties of willow weavers grown by Strobe Willows all have their own colour variations and general thicknesses, lengths and weaving characteristics. 'Brown' willow needs re-hydrating before being usable in weaving. In the dried state you will purchase these rods, they are quite brittle. After soaking ( a process that takes approximately 1 day for every foot in length of the rod), the rods become very flexible, as they were when they were growing and harvested. -

Willow Basket Frame
$2.00 "+ GST"Willow basket frames are bent and dried when green (fresh harvested) to create the willow weaving foundation platform in round or curved shapes, basically creating the overall shape and sturdiness of the basket. The price is for 1 individual frame piece, though frame basket designs usually call for odd number multiples – 3, 5, 7, 9 etc. Frames are used as the base for many traditional designs of baskets, trays and ornaments. 3 sizes are available depending on the sizes and strengths needed for your basket design. 24″ for smaller baskets up to 10 inches across, 36″ for 12″ baskets…

Willow Daisy Flower
$15.00 "+ GST"This Willow Daisy flower comes in 3 sizes – 8 Inch diameter, 10 inch and 12 inch with rounded even petals like a daisy. Woven mostly from Salix Purpurea ‘Green Edna’ rods which should dry light green and beige. This very pretty ornamental is supplied with a 15 to 18 inch ‘stem’ in a contrasting colour willow.

Willow Fish
$10.00 "+ GST"Woven from several varieties of willow, this 10″ decorative fish can serve as a kitchen trivet on the counter top or as a wall decoration anywhere in your home. The willow fish is available in 3 widths – Slim, Medium and Wide – to support smaller to large cooking saucepans and fry pans. As with most willow crafts, each fish has been woven as a unique item, with no 2 fish being the same. Colours may vary according to the variety of basket willow used.

Woven Willow Bird Table

Woven Willow Tree
