Tall Living Willow Rods are sold out in 2026 at Strobe Willows. The rods are meant for willow planting projects such as living fencing, living arbours, and living arches. Other projects made possible by using Living Willow Rods are live garden chairs or benches, berms and garden walls, windbreaks and privacy screens or stream bank stabilization.
Tall Living Willow Rods are kept intact on their parent plant roots through the winter after leaf fall, until sold to a Strobe Willows customer.
We have 100 rods available, harvested on March 5th and 6th. The rods were standing in a water bath waiting for sale and planting by a Strobe Willows customer. We made 2 living willow fences on the farm as a learning experience – very valuable experience too! The remaining rods have become a willow trellis for climbing veggies such as peas and cucumbers.

The minimum length of the rods is 7 feet, while the maximum length currently available is 11 feet. The Tall Living Willow Rod is kept intact with no trimming, ready for the customer to collect from Strobe Farm. This product should be planted on the 1st frost free day after collection – any time from February onwards – after the site is prepared for the project.

Tall Living Willow Rods were available in 2025 in 2 varieties – Salix Purpurea ‘Americana’ and Salix Purpurea ‘Packing Twine’.
Additional 2026 varieties planned are Salix Purpurea ‘Lambertiana’ and Salix Koriyanagi ‘Rubykins’, though in lesser quantities. In 2027, we hope to offer Salix Miyabeana as a tall living willow.

The willow frame allows you to weave in evergreen branches for winter colour. Celebrate any special occasion on the calendar with craft materials, or decorate with summer wildflowers or harvest mate rials to add colour and class to your front entrance. The willow wreath is re-usable. Just remove the older decorative material and dress the frame with new ideas.

Willow Angel
$20.00 "+ GST"This woven willow angel has wings made of 8 curved willow rod tips and a woven basketry base. Designed to be free- standing on any table, the woven willow angel figure can also be used as a Christmas Tree topper since the 4- inch wide base is hollow. Of course, it can also be hung with string anywhere, since the weight, as with most willow decorations, is very light. Custom orders for different coloured willows in your Angel can be requested provided enough notice is given.

Willow Weaving Rods
$12.00 "+ GST"Dried (brown) willow weaving rods with their bark left on are prepared by the purchaser for use in making woven baskets, decorative household and garden items as well as sculptures and furniture. The dry rods need to be re-hydrated in a water bath, trough, stream or pond for approximately 1 day for every foot of length. Brown willow weaving rods are sold by Willow variety, then by length required – between 3 to 6 feet long – and then in bundles by weight (measured in 1 pound increments). Bucket of Willow Saplings
$15.00 "+ GST"For 2026 we will have 12 varieties of saplings in these recycled buckets for sale from July till April 2027, after which they will be planted here. There will normally be 2 buckets (10 saplings) of each variety, each planted from cuttings from last years crop that did not sell before April. This product provides customers with 5 live plants with healthy roots that should be planted in autumn in a prepared willow bed for settling in through the winter so they are ready to mature in your plot the next year.
